Hi Everyone,
This is a busy point in the year, as we have just over a month left of school, and we have a lot on our schedule this week. 1)Service Project Collection Week- Reading Heart Flyer 8A.pdf Flier MMC Domestic Abuse 8B.jpg -Students throughout campus will be bringing donations into their classrooms that we will collect on Friday. We also have small groups assigned for each morning before school and right after school to be visually present at the flagpole to either collect donation items and/or inform parents/students about our service project and how they can donate to our causes. 2)Rotary Essay- We will write two 1-page essays in the next two weeks to be submitted for possible scholarship money to be awarded at promotion. The first essay will be on the Rotary 4-Way Test and what it means to the student. Next week, we will write our essay for the PTO about how they are prepared for the next step in their education/future. 3)Civic Showcase For 7th Grade- Students are sharing out their research through group presentations that they have been working on over the past month. We will have the 7th grade classes come in and rotate through our stations to learn more about our Civic Projects- Childhood Trauma and Domestic Abuse. This is a great intro for the 7th graders as to know what to expect for their 8th grade year. 4)Democracy School Program Showcase- Showcase.flyer.5-13.pdf -Everyone is invited to come see our classes present at the Democracy School Program Showcase at Sunnyside High School on May 13th from 6:30-8:30. We will have a 3 representatives from each class that will present at this showcase. We will have 10 minutes total (5 minutes per class) to show what we have been working on this year. We will also be able to see the projects from both 5th and 8th grade classes throughout the Fresno-Fowler area. 5)CAASPP Testing Rally- Wednesday 5/1. Students who are performing our class dance be prepared with your final practicing as needed on your own. We have worked on Wednesdays for over a month to prepare for our 1 min 30 second dance. Let's win!! 6)Science Day- Friday 5/3. Fresno State students will be in our classes for a 40 minute science lesson in the morning. 7)Magic Mountain- We are going to be finalizing our chaperone and group assignment list in the coming week. We will let you all know what groups you are in and what chaperone you will be with the whole day we are at the park. 8)Promotion- We are starting into the process of seeing who is interested in speaking or having a specific task at our promotion ceremony. There are many opportunities for students to be involved in the ceremony and we will find a role for all students that are up for the challenge. 9)Cotillion- May 10th, 13th, 14th, 16th, and 17th from 1:30-2:50 each day. 10)Last Junior High Dance- May 17th from 3:00-5:00pm 11)CAASPP Testing- We will be testing in English the week of May 20th-24th. The key that week will be to eat healthy meals and get plenty of sleep to be 100% for testing. As you can see, we have many things happening in this next month+. While it may seem like a whirlwind, we will be at the end before we know it. Take time to enjoy the remaining time you have as a Quail Lake Falcon before moving on to High School. You are doing a great job! Keep it up. Mr. Mason |
